Reviews for TASC For Dummies

5 star review - Bardo Smanthort - December 18, 2016

"I think this book is a great way to get ready for the TASC high school equivalency test. I've always found books in the Dummies series to be comprehensive and organized. This one is no different. It has 20 chapters that are organized by five broader school subjects: Language Arts Reading, Language Arts Writing, Mathematics, Social Studies, and Science. There are also sections on how to use the book, practice tests with answers and explanations, and how to prepare for the test and do your best. I'm not taking the test, but I really enjoyed this book. I learned or refreshed my knowledge on many topics. My kids ask me for help with their homework sometimes and I just don't remember some of the things they ask me about. This book is a great resource for me to brush up and help them rather than searching the internet fruitlessly for a clear explanation. This is the kind of book that I will continue to pick up now and then because I enjoy having and maintaining knowledge"

"This is perfect for what we needed. It covers so many subjects in a susinct, simplified yet informative way. Its very user friendly and perfect for my homeschooled son. This makes me feel like we are even more prepared."

5 star review - SBCincinnati - TOP 500 REVIEWER VINE VOICE - October 21, 2016

"TASC for Dummies is very comprehensive and well formatted. This book covers the following: 1. How to understand the TASC, best prepare for it and how to maximize your scores. 2. Study guides for reading, writing, math, history, social studies, government, geography, economics, physical science, life science, and earth and space science. The study guides are very specific and detailed. 3. Two practice test with answer keys and explanations for the answers. I think the explanations are one of the best things about this book! This book would be invaluable to any person wanting to take this exam. There are sections on the exam that I was surprised to find, like global warming and the big bang theory. Both are presented as facts, not theories. You will need to know this in order to do well on these sections of the test. I found the text to be very complete and easy to follow. Not only is this a great book for students, but I think it would be a wonderful resource for libraries, parents, and social service programs that help teens and struggling adults."

5 star review - Lynrie - October 23, 2016

"Tutoring and encouraging adults to get their high school education completed has been a personal endeavor since early days in college. The materials, subject matter and testing have changed over the years. I can remember huge binders for students studying for their GED back in the day. I bought a GED prep book and trialed this one. I like this one more for independent study and review. Some folks tend to get overwhelmed by thick books and the computer learning available. This book is divided into sections that help focus the student and learning process. It also can direct focus for those who need brushing up on previously deficient subject areas. I have two folks that need the different approaches to accomplish their goals. I'll keep updating as we get through it and ready for testing"

4 star review - Sanoe.net - December 15, 2016

"I have a family member who will be taking a high school equivalency test so I thought to pick this up for him. What I learned is: Before selecting, make sure that your state has the TASC test. The state that I am in does not but I found that out after I got the book. But that's on me so I ding myself on that. That said, even though he can't take the test in our state, the book is still laid out in a useful way for studying the various subjects (reading, writing, mathematics, science, and social studies) so he still found it to be a worthwhile read. It was organized, easy to follow and makes a good study reference to read and go through"

4 star review - Misty - November 8, 2016

"This is a big book that covers all of the bases. I got this for my homeschooler & it will come in handy for gauging her strengths and weaknesses."

4 star review - Jordi D. - March 6, 2017

"I am a TASC coordinator for a local high school. This review book is a good starting point for students with large gaps in their education, as many things are explained well."
