SAT Subject Tests are designed to measure what you know about specific disciplines and determine your level of understanding of your chosen subjects.

Many schools that use your SAT Subject Tests as an indicator of your ability to succeed in college. Your tests score help them to decide whether you have the academic ability to handle their curriculum.

Private SAT lessons with Dr. Donnelly are available either online via Skype for those students living outside of the New York City area or in-person at our East Midtown location for those students living here in Manhattan..

WHY TAKE THE SAT SUBJECT TESTS?

Most selective colleges require between 1 - 3 SAT Subject Tests.

High scores in Math 1, Math 2 or Physics may exempt you from having to take some introductory college courses.

WHEN SHOULD YOU TAKE THE SAT SUBJECT TESTS?

The SAT Subject Tests are held 6 times per year

Many students take Math Subject Tests in the fall of their senior year. Other tests, like Physics should be taken right after finishing that subject in school.

HOW IS THE SAT SCORED?

Each subject test receives a score on a scale of 200-800.

HOW LONG IS EACH SAT SUBJECT TEST?

1 hour per subject test

EXAM STRUCTURE

  • multiple-choice questions
SKILLS TESTED
  • Ability to recall and apply the major physics principles to solve specific problems
  • An understanding of simple algebraic, trigonometric, and graphical relationships
  • Concepts of ratio and proportion, and how to apply these to physics problems
  • Familiarity with the metric system of units
RECOMMENDED PREPARATION
  • One-year introductory college preparatory course in physics
  • Courses in algebra and trigonometry
  • Experience in the laboratory
